Running late and half-assed attempts are not allowed in her program. She ranks the surfers each week and lets you know exactly who is dead last and why. She is disciplined, unsentimental, and hard to please, but her talent clearly earned her total authority. She pushes every surfer harder than they want to be pushed, and she never lets them forget what is at stake. She is ultimately rooting for them, whether it seems that way or not.
